A set of replacement air intakes for a model of the British carrier-based Sea Vixen aircraft in the configuration designated FAW.9, 1:48 scale. This is not a kit but a finished replacement part that is fitted in place of the parts from the box.
Air intakes are one of the places where injection-molded plastic runs into its limits. The lip has to be as thin as possible and the duct behind it as deep as possible, yet both at once are hard to get out of a split mold. The result is usually a thick lip and a shallow opening you can see straight through. The replacement part solves both at once, because it is made as a single piece and both the lip and the inner wall come out right from the start.
For modelers who build the Sea Vixen in 1:48 scale and want their air intakes sharp and without a visible wall thickness. The set is small, but working with it takes only a moment and it shows on the finished model. The manufacturer gives the exact contents and the fitting procedure in the enclosed instructions.
