The de Havilland Sea Vixen is a British carrier-borne aircraft with twin tail booms and a crew of two that served with the Fleet Air Arm. The machines took off from carrier decks and took hard landings on a limited area, so the landing gear and the wheels are among their sturdy features, and ones clearly visible on a model.
These are replacement wheels in 1:48 scale for the Airfix kit, so an accessory to the kit rather than a standalone model. The wheels go in place of the kit parts, usually at the very end of the work, so that they are not damaged while the model is handled. How many parts the set holds is given in the manufacturer's instruction sheet supplied with it.
The parts are not polystyrene and ordinary plastic cement has no effect on them; bond the joints with super glue. Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder carefully, so that you do not cut into the shape of the wheel itself. Wash and degrease the parts before painting, otherwise the paint will not hold. Spray the hub and the tire separately; the dividing edge is easiest to keep in check with masking tape or a stencil.
A wheel set is supplied. The kit, paints, glue and masking material are not included, unless stated otherwise.
