Photo-etched seat harnesses for British aircraft of the early period, in a steel finish, 1:48 scale.

A set of photo-etched seat harnesses for the cockpit of a model in 1:48 scale. It matches the belts used in the Royal Air Force in the early period, that is on machines from the start of the Second World War. The finish is steel, as the name says: steel is stronger and springier than the softer metals used for photo-etch, so the belt holds its shape once bent and can convincingly be thrown over the edge of a seat or left to drape loosely onto the cockpit floor.
In an open cockpit the belts are the first thing the eye notices. A plastic kit either has them merely suggested on the seat or does not have them at all, and even when it carries them as a separate part, its thickness cannot match a thin strap. A metal part tenths of a millimeter thick looks right to scale, and it can be formed as well, so two identical sets never turn out exactly the same.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface and hold them with tweezers. Form the shape of the belt step by step and make the bends against a straight edge. They are glued with super glue laid on with a pin; cement for polystyrene will not join metal. If you are going to paint the parts, degrease the surface first and lay on a primer. A kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
