Double-sided painting masks for the glazing of the Sikorsky H-19 Chickasaw helicopter in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Sikorsky H-19 Chickasaw was an American transport helicopter from the beginning of the fifties. The power was provided by a piston engine housed in the nose, so the cabin stayed free for cargo and for the people carried, and the pilot station moved above it. The machine proved itself in transport, liaison and casualty evacuation in Korea, it was exported to a number of countries and it was also built under license. The glazed nose and the large windows of the pilot station are among its most conspicuous features, and that is exactly why it pays to give them care on the model.
These are painting masks for the glazing in 1:48 scale, and that in a double-sided version: they cover from the outside as well as from the inside, so the frames stay clean on both sides and the inside of the glazing can be sprayed in the shade of the cabin. The extent of the sheet and the order in which the individual parts are stuck on are described by the maker's instructions.
The masks are stuck on before spraying, not after it. Wash and degrease the glazing first, otherwise the mask will not adhere. Lay the part on, press the edges down carefully and apply the paint in several thin coats; one thick coat likes to run underneath. Take the mask off while the finish is still fresh, with pointed tweezers or a wooden stick, so that the clear part does not get scratched.
The set suits builders who do not want to cut the frames laboriously out of tape. The box contains the masks; the kit, paints and glue are not part of it unless stated otherwise.
