A silicone mold for stone masonry in 1:48 scale

This is not a model and not a finished diorama part, but an aid for making them. The flexible silicone mold with a relief of stone masonry makes it possible to cast your own stone surfaces in any number and to build walls, foundations, paving or ruins out of them. The mold is from the Spanish brand Green Stuff World and corresponds to 1:48 scale. The dimensions of the mold are given on the packaging.

How to work with the mold

The mold is flexible, so the casting comes out of it undamaged even with a broken-up relief. You can work with plaster, with modeling two-part resin and with modeling paste, which you press into the mold and take out once it has set. Add the material to the mold in portions and tap it lightly against the table, so that air bubbles escape. After taking the casting out, let it dry through properly; only then do you sand and glue it. Strengthen plaster castings before painting with thinned glue or with primer. The stone texture will stand out with a dark wash in the joints and a dry brush over the edges. Wash the mold with lukewarm water after use and let it dry freely; it will then last for many castings.
