1:48 Soviet Tank Desant Troops, part 1 (2 figures)

Soviet tank desant - part 1, 1:48 (CMK)

A set of two resin figures in 1:48 scale from the Czech manufacturer CMK. It represents Soviet infantrymen, the so-called tank desant, who during the Second World War rode directly on the armor of tanks. The arms and heads are cast separately for better detail and more freedom in posing.

The real subject

The tank desant tactic consisted in carrying submachine-gun armed infantry on the hull of a tank, from which the soldiers jumped straight into the fight. The poses of the figures match a party riding on the medium T-34 tank and on other types as well.

Building and painting tips

First wash the mold release residue off the parts and cut off the casting blocks. Glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue), and sand with respiratory protection. Apply primer before painting; for uniforms and flesh tones, acrylic paints finished off with an enamel or oil wash work well.

Who the set is for

• For builders of dioramas from the Eastern Front.
• For completing models of Soviet tanks with a crew and riders.
• For modelers with experience of resin castings.

The set contains unpainted resin figures. The tank model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
