The real subject

The Supermarine Spitfire was a British single-seat fighter aircraft that became one of the symbols of the Second World War; you will know it by its elliptical wing. The Mk. VIII version is among the later forms and it was used above all on the fronts away from the British Isles, in the Mediterranean and in Asia and the Pacific. The Eduard SPACE set aims precisely at this version in 1:48 scale.

What the set offers

SPACE is a line of colored three-dimensional elements that are glued straight onto the parts of a kit and take the place of the laborious coloring of small details by hand. The elements have no adhesive layer of their own: only the backing paper is dampened, the element is lifted off it with tweezers and fixed with white glue. The maker does not recommend cyanoacrylate glue, and no decal softener is used. The extent of the set and the placing of the individual elements are given in the instructions enclosed with the set.

How to apply the elements

First clean and degrease the surface the elements will sit on, so that the glue takes. Keep the tweezers and your fingers clean, because a greasy print shows under the glossy film. Dampen the backing paper under the element with a sponge and a drop of detergent, lift the element with pointed tweezers, settle it into a thin layer of white glue and press it down with a soft stick from the center toward the edges. On rounded surfaces work in small sections, so that the film does not crumple. Before you use the set, let the parts of the kit dry properly from the paint.
