The set makes it possible to build the model with the gun bays in the wing open, that is with the panels swung back and the armament uncovered, as the machine looked during maintenance and the replenishing of ammunition. The resin castings carry details that cannot be got into injection-molded plastic: the inner structure of the bay, the mounting of the weapons and the small items around them. The set is an accessory to a plastic model of the Spitfire Mk. Vc in 1:48 scale; the kit itself, glue and paints are not in the package. The make-up of the package is given by the maker on the packaging of the set.
The Supermarine Spitfire Mk. Vc differed from the Mk. Vb version in the so-called universal wing, which allowed various arrangements of armament - machine guns, a pair or a set of four twenty-millimeter cannons, or a combination of them. That is exactly why the inside of the wing differs between the versions and accessories are not interchangeable between the Mk. Vb and the Mk. Vc. The Mk. V was the most numerously built variant of the Spitfire and it served on a number of fronts.
Count on an opening having to be cut into the wing of the kit; go slowly, first drill the outline out and only then cut. Wash the mold release agent off the resin, cut the casting blocks away with a saw and level the surfaces by sanding wet with protection for your breathing. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Finish and paint the bays before you glue the halves of the wing. Bring the inside out with a dark wash and a dry brush, so that the structure stands out; put the swung-back panels on at the very end.
The set is an accessory to a plastic model, not a kit on its own. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
