A full set of masks for the glazing from both sides and two sets of insignia for the Spitfire Mk.I in 1:48 scale. It fits the Airfix kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The first production Spitfire Mk.I machines had fabric-covered control surfaces, a two-blade wooden propeller and hand-pumped landing gear; before the summer of 1940 came, the type went through a series of small changes that made it an equal opponent. The elliptical wing gave good handling in steep banks and remained a recognition feature of the type throughout its career.
If you have never used masking film, this is a sensible place to start. The canopy of the early Spitfires is calm in shape, there are few frames and the individual panels are large enough to be picked up with tweezers without a magnifier. The experience you gain applies later to cockpits where cutting by hand is no longer realistic.
The glazing is masked from both sides and two sets of national markings to spray come with it. Early British roundels have a thin yellow ring, which is hard to place from a decal on the rounded surface of the fuselage; over film it is sprayed color by color and the ring comes out continuous. Paints and thinner are not included.
Work from the largest panels to the smallest and do not hurry the removal. It helps to have a wooden stick cut flat to hand, so that the edge can be pressed down without the film lifting. As an accessory a basic paint in a spray can and ordinary painting tape for the rest of the fuselage are enough.
