The Hauler Steyr 1500 Kommandeurwagen 1:48 photo-etched detail set refines the build of the German light command vehicle. It is an accessory for the Tamiya kit, not a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of parts made of photo-etched sheet from the Czech maker Hauler in 1:48 scale, cut for the command version of the Steyr 1500 light cross-country vehicle. It is not a kit or a finished model but an accessory meant for the basic Tamiya plastic kit. The metal replaces those items of the body and the interior that are necessarily thicker in plastic than they should be.
The Steyr 1500 was a light cross-country car of Austrian manufacture with all-wheel drive and an air-cooled eight-cylinder engine. It was built in several forms, from a flatbed through an ambulance version to closed and command bodies. The command form in particular served staffs as a more comfortable signals and transport vehicle that kept the cross-country ability of the chassis. The air-cooled engine was an advantage in cold weather, when worries about coolant freezing fell away.
On soft-skinned vehicles photo-etch is rewarding above all on thin sheet items. Wipers, brackets, grab handles, instrument bezels and grilles look incomparably better once replaced than molded shapes. Work in stages, so that you do not spoil the parts in a heap. Degrease the metal with alcohol, make the bends in a bender and glue with super glue in minimal doses; any excess leaves a white film. Spray a primer before painting. In the interior it pays to paint the photo-etch before gluing it on and only touch in the joints.
This is an accessory for a build, not a model in its own right. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
