Voyager Model 1:48 StuG III, cooling mesh is a small photo-etched set for a plastic kit, not a model. It replaces the solid plastic imitations of the mesh over the engine compartment with genuinely cut-through metal. Intended for Tamiya kits.

A small aftermarket set of photo-etched brass in 1:48 scale, meant for a Tamiya plastic kit. It is not a kit and not a finished model but a narrowly focused accessory: it deals with the mesh over the engine compartment, that is one of the places where injection-molded plastic loses out most. With its modest scope it is a suitable first step for modelers starting out with photo-etched parts.
Cooling mesh is in reality see-through and there is a view into the interior of the vehicle beneath it. A plastic part comes out of the factory solid and the engraving merely imitates a shadow, which is apparent at once when seen from above, above all in photographs of a model. A photo-etched mesh has real openings and a scale thickness of ribs, so the model finally looks as if it has an engine.
For the mesh to work, there has to be darkness beneath it. Either sand the plastic imitation away and cut the opening out, or at least spray the whole place with flat black and add a piece of dark netting. Without that, bright plastic is visible under the mesh and the effect is lost. Glue the part itself with a tiny drop of cyanoacrylate around the perimeter, never in the middle of the surface. Apply the paint in thin coats and preferably at an angle, so that the openings do not fill in. At the end it pays to draw a dark wash into the mesh and add a little dust pigment, because this is where most of the dirt actually caught.
The set is an accessory for a plastic kit, which it does not include. The glue, paints and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
