Tamiya Zimmerit coating sheet for the Sturmtiger 1:48 is a self-adhesive set for creating a Zimmerit coating on a model easily and faithfully.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a self-adhesive coating sheet from the maker Tamiya which makes it possible to create a Zimmerit coating easily and faithfully on a model of the German Sturmtiger assault mortar in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit but an accessory to a model: a preformed self-adhesive film with the relief of Zimmerit which you stick onto the corresponding areas of the hull and the superstructure, sparing yourself the laborious application of putty by hand.
Zimmerit was a paste-like anti-magnetic compound which the Germans applied to the surface of armored vehicles during the Second World War to prevent magnetic anti-tank mines from attaching. The characteristic ridged pattern is a typical mark of many German vehicles from the later part of the war, including heavy machines on the chassis of the Tiger.
Free the areas of the model from grease beforehand. Separate the parts from the sheet carefully, lay them precisely on the shaped surfaces and press them down. The transitions and the edges can be fine-tuned. Once stuck on, prime and paint as an ordinary surface of a model; the ridged texture comes out nicely after a wash and dry brushing have been applied.
This is a supplementary self-adhesive set, not a model. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
