The 1:48 Su-25 Frogfoot BASIC kabuki masks set from New Ware is a pre-cut masking set of kabuki paper for building the Su-25 attack aircraft in 1:48 scale.

This is a set of pre-cut painting masks, not a kit. The masks are cut from kabuki paper, that is from a thin Japanese masking material with a slightly tacky layer, which fits curved areas well and as a rule leaves no adhesive residue once removed. New Ware makes three grades of set for this type, marked BASIC, ADVANCED and EXPERT; this item is the basic grade. The extent of the individual grades is stated on the box of the set.
Masking a cockpit with adhesive tape means trimming the tape with a knife on the clear part itself. The point of the knife easily leaves a score mark you will never get out of transparent plastic, and the frames come out slightly different on each side. A pre-cut template is shaped to a particular molding, so the edges of the frames are crisp and symmetrical and the work takes a fraction of the time. Alongside the canopy, masks of this kind usually deal with the other transparent areas and the wheels as well, on which an accurate circle is otherwise hard to cut by hand.
Degrease the clear part before sticking the mask on and let it dry completely. Lift the template off the backing with fine-pointed tweezers and press it down with a toothpick or a wooden stick, above all around the frame. Spray the paint in several thin coats, because a heavy wet coat runs under the edge of the mask most easily. Take the mask off shortly after the paint has dried, not weeks later, and do it at a shallow angle, so that the edge of the finish does not come away with it. Any adhesive residue left, if any at all, is removed by a cotton bud lightly moistened with water.
The package holds only painting masks. The model, paints and glue are not part of it.
