1:48 Sukhoi Su-17M4 Fitter-K (outside and inside masks) is a self-adhesive Montex masking set for the cockpit glazing frames. It is not a model, but an accessory for a 1:48 kit you already own.
Responsibility details are not available.
Shaped masks for the cockpit canopy and the windscreen of the Su-17M4 fighter-bomber. According to the name, the set holds masks for the outside and the inside, so the frames stand out seen from outside and through the glazing alike. The templates are applied dry and serve to make the frames come out straight and of even width without measuring tape by hand.
The Su-17 was a Soviet single-seat fighter-bomber with variable geometry of the outer wing panels, derived from the Su-7. The M4 version concluded the development line and carried modernized avionics for attacks on ground targets; its NATO reporting name is Fitter-K. The type was widely exported and served in various versions with European armed forces as well. The cockpit has a pronounced framed canopy and a windscreen with armor glass, that is precisely the areas the set is cut for.
The order of painting is the key. Apply the inside masks first and spray the interior shade, then close the assembly up, fit the outside masks and go on with the primer. A thin coat of primer at the same time locks the edges of the masks, so camouflage will not run under them. Apply the camouflage itself with an airbrush in light coats, so that no relief forms at the edge of a mask. Never clean transparent parts with thinner or an aggressive degreaser; lukewarm water with detergent and thorough drying without fingerprints is enough.
The package holds masking templates only. The kit and the paints are not part of it.
