1:48 Supermarine Spitfire F Mk.XVIII SPACE is a set of Eduard 3D-printed color decals for the cockpit of the postwar Spitfire. An add-on to a kit in 1:48, not a model of the aircraft.

The interior of a model can be improved in two ways: with thin metal sheet, or with sculptural color items. The SPACE line stands for the second of them. The parts are printed in 3D on decal backing paper, have a real height of relief and come with the color from the factory, so the instruments need neither painting nor building up in layers. In scope the set is targeted: it deals with the cockpit and does not touch the outer surfaces of the model.
The instrument panel, the side consoles and the panels that go with them inside the fuselage. The Spitfire has a glazed canopy with a large area, and with the hood slid back the interior is practically all on show. The relief items are fitted onto the plastic parts of the kit before the fuselage is joined, so this is one of the first steps of the build rather than a later modification.
The F Mk.XVIII version belonged to the postwar Spitfires with the Griffon engine. Against the earlier machines it received a strengthened airframe and landing gear structure and, in some patterns, a greater fuel load as well. It flew mostly overseas with the Royal Air Force and represents the closing phase of the long development of the type.
Sand and degrease the base. Carefully level engraved detail on the plastic that would keep a part from seating. With a damp sponge and a drop of dish soap moisten only the backing paper, carry the item across with tweezers and fix it with white PVA glue; it has no adhesive layer of its own. The manufacturer does not recommend cyanoacrylate glue, and do not use a decal softener, as its chemistry attacks the printed resin. If you give the interior a matte coat, spray from a distance and in a thin layer, so that the fine embossing does not fill in. Run a dark wash only into the corners of the cockpit, not across the relief.
This is an add-on to a model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
