Double-sided masks of the extensive glazing, three masks for the national insignia and metal muzzles for the heavy machine guns for the TBM-1C carrier torpedo aircraft in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The TBM-1C is the license-built form of the carrier torpedo aircraft which from 1942 carried a bomb bay enclosed under the fuselage and a crew of three. The machine was unusually large for a single-engine type, but it could take off even from the short decks of escort carriers. The version designated by the letter C received a pair of heavy machine guns in the wings, which replaced the weaker armament in the engine cowling.
The glazing of this aircraft is a completely different task from a fighter's. A long glazed superstructure divided by bars into a row of rectangular panels runs above the fuselage, a gun turret with a curvature of its own projects into it in the middle, and at the rear the glazing continues to above the radio operator's position. There are so many frames that covering them by hand takes a substantial part of the build. The film is therefore supplied here for the outer as well as the inner side, because the interior of the fuselage is visible through the glazed area and an unfinished frame would be noticeable from every angle.
Apply the inner film before the fuselage halves are joined. On the long superstructure it pays to lay the pieces down gradually from the front bar toward the rear and to check as you go whether the panels overlap anywhere. The curved surface of the turret will call for slight warming of the film, otherwise it lifts at the corners and paint bleeds under it.
