This is an accessory set for detailing models and dioramas, not a kit on its own. It contains a miniature of the German antivehicle plate mine designated Tellermine 29 in 1:48 scale. In a scene it is used as an object on the ground, as a load stowed on a vehicle, or as part of the gear of engineer figures.

The real subject

The Tellermine 29 is the oldest of the German series of plate mines, which took their name from their shape — a low circular body resembling a plate. It differs from the later versions in the details of the casing and in the layout of the upper part with the igniter, so when building a particular period it makes sense to choose the version deliberately. That is also why the manufacturer makes the series as individual types rather than as a mixture. For the modeler it is a rewarding accessory, because it can be stowed in stacks as well as in boxes.

Building and painting tips

With a circular casting, watch above all the flatness of the bottom face: if a bulge is left after the gate has been cut off, the mine will not sit down in the scene. Level the face with abrasive paper laid on glass or on a board. Wash the casting in lukewarm soapy water before painting. Glue resin with cyanoacrylate glue and injection-molded plastic with cement for polystyrene. Paint over a thin base in a uniform matte shade, then add a dark wash into the rim gap and fine scuffs around the circumference with a sponge. Dust the stowed pieces with a pigment to match the surface they are lying on.
