This is an accessory set for detailing models and dioramas, not a kit on its own. It contains a miniature of the German antivehicle plate mine of type 42 in 1:48 scale. It comes into its own in a scene on the ground, in a stack, in boxes and as a load stowed on a vehicle.
The Tellermine 42 is a later member of the German series of plate mines. Compared with the older types it has a simplified casing with a smooth circular lid, which is the feature by which it can be told apart from types 29 and 35 on a model. The simplification was connected with saving production time and material, so this type belongs in scenes from the second half of the war. For a diorama it is rewarding precisely because of its clean shape — a smooth lid carries a wash and discreet scuffs well.
After cutting the gate off, level the bottom face with abrasive paper laid on a flat board, so that the part seats in the scene. Wash the casting in lukewarm soapy water. Glue resin with cyanoacrylate glue and injection-molded plastic with cement for polystyrene. Build the painting on a thin base and a uniform matte shade, then add a dark wash into the rim gap and around the lid. If you are building a stack, paint the individual pieces in slightly different shades of the same color — identical surfaces in a stack give away that these are castings from one mold.
