Tempest Mk. V wheels early is a resin set of wheels of the early pattern for a model of the Hawker Tempest Mk. V fighter in 1:48 from the Czech manufacturer Eduard. It is an accessory, not a kit of an airplane.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set replaces the plastic wheels of a model with accurate resin castings in a version matching the early machines. The wheels have a faithful relief of the tread and of the hub and are as a rule cast with a slightly flattened contact patch, so that once the model is seated on its landing gear it looks as though it really stood on its own weight. It is not a kit of an airplane but an accessory for a model of the Tempest Mk. V in 1:48.
The wheels are very visible on a finished model, and it is on them that the plastic parts from the box usually lose the most. Resin castings offer a sharper tread, a clear separation of the tire from the hub and clean modeling of the valve and the brake drum. The distinction of the early pattern matters: the Tempest received different types of wheel during its service and a mix-up shows on a model.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent because of any release agent. Cut the casting block off with a saw and sand the mating surface carefully; do not inhale the resin dust. For gluing use super glue (cyanoacrylate). Paint the tire a dark gray rather than black and set the hub off in a lighter shade; a masking circle or careful brushwork helps. Seat the flattened contact patch so that it rests on the surface over its whole area, otherwise the effect is lost.
The accessory set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
