A set of tools in 1:48 scale from the maker Hauler replaces coarsely cast tools on models of vehicles with separate parts with sharp detail.
Responsibility details are not available.
A supplementary set of scaled-down tools for models of vehicles and for diorama scenes in 1:48 scale. These are not modeling tools for working on a kit but scaled-down versions of real working implements that were carried on vehicles clamped to the bed, the fenders or the sides of the hull. The accessory is intended for use on an already purchased kit, or loose in a scene.
On most kits the tools are cast directly into the surface of the hull as shallow relief. Once paint and a wash are drawn over them, they merge with the base and look like an impression rather than an object. Separate parts have a real volume and shadow, they can be turned, partly removed or moved, and above all they can be painted separately, so that a wooden handle really is wooden and a metal part metal. The difference is visible even at a normal distance of looking into a cabinet.
Remove the original cast tools from the model carefully: first shave them off flat with a sharp scalpel, then sand the area with fine paper and check that you have not damaged the surrounding structure. The new brackets and clamps tend to be fine, so work over a tray and use tweezers. They are glued with cyanoacrylate in a minimal drop applied with a pin. The painting is rewarding: the handles in a base brown, over it a thin light stripe and an oil wash for the grain of the wood; the metal parts in a dark steel paint, onto which, once dry, lightly apply graphite or a metallic pigment on the edges. Finally unify the whole with a fine dusting, so that the tools do not look cleaner than the vehicle beneath them.
This is a supplementary set, not a complete model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
