The Towing Cable End - Soviet Army WW2 set is an accessory for 1:48 scale. It holds castings of the eyes of tow cables of the kind Soviet vehicles of the Second World War carried, and it replaces the simplified plastic parts from the box with them. The cable itself is added by the modeler from wire or braided line.
A tow cable on Soviet vehicles was fastened to the hull, the fender or the rear, and its ends are clearly visible from outside. In 1:48 scale the part is even smaller than in 1:35, but it shows all the more on a model whether an eye has a real hole and a smooth surface or whether it is blanked off and marked by the mold seam. That is exactly the difference the set deals with.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with dish soap and cut them off the casting block with a fine saw over a mat, so that a small casting is not lost. Do the sanding wet and protect your airways. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue, as a glue for plastic does not work here. Use a thin copper line as the cable: in this scale a genuinely fine cross-section is enough, otherwise the cable looks oversized. Paint with a dark metallic shade and suggest rust only sparingly, because a small part is easily overpainted.
