Exhaust nozzles for the TSR-2 in 1:48 scale

This item is not an aircraft model but a detail set from the Czech brand CMK. It replaces the exhaust nozzles of the engines, that is, the place that is seen first at the tail and where a plastic kit usually stops at a roughly suggested cone. The replacement parts have thin edges and a worked inside, so you really can look into the nozzle instead of finding only a blind wall in it. The diameters and the seats match the Airfix kit.

The real subject

The BAC TSR-2 was a British tactical strike and reconnaissance aircraft with a pair of Bristol Siddeley Olympus engines, designed for a fast pass at low altitude. For its day it had exceptional performance and an unusual aerodynamic solution with a small delta wing with drooped tips. A single prototype got into the air in 1964, after which the whole program was canceled the following year. The aircraft therefore never reached squadron service and remained one of the most discussed chapters of British aviation.

Usage tips

Cut the original plastic nozzles off with a saw and even the surface out by wet sanding. Wash the new parts in lukewarm water with detergent and let them dry; they are glued with super glue. Spray the inside of the nozzle before you glue it to the airframe, otherwise it is hard to reach later. Create the metal look over a gloss black base and suggest the heat discoloration with a light overspray of brown and blue. Sand wet and with your breathing protected.
