The Vampire F.3 LööK 1:48 set from Eduard is a replacement instrument panel for the cockpit of a model of the British de Havilland Vampire jet fighter. An accessory to a model, not a kit.

The LööK range from the Czech maker Eduard deals with one single thing, but does it properly: the instrument panel. On a model with the canopy open or well seen through, it is the first thing a viewer notices and at the same time the thing injection-molded plastic handles worst. This set is cut for the de Havilland Vampire F.3 model in 1:48 scale and replaces the original plastic panel with a part whose instruments are rendered far more finely. It is not an aircraft model and it is not a complete interior either - it is a targeted improvement of one place in the cockpit.
The de Havilland Vampire was one of the first British jet fighters to reach front-line service. What is characteristic is the short fuselage nacelle holding the pilot and the engine, the twin tail booms and the centrifugal Goblin jet engine. The F.3 version received, among other things, reworked tail surfaces and increased range, which allowed long-distance flights to be made with it. The Vampire served with a number of other countries and became one of the most widespread British jet designs of its day.
The cockpit of the Vampire is fairly tight, so it pays to try the part dry before any gluing and, if need be, to thin the mating surface. Tweezers and a surface with a light finish are compulsory equipment when working with a part this small. Dose the glue spot by spot, ideally cyanoacrylate, so that it does not fog any clear items. Settle the panel and let it dry before closing up the fuselage. A fine wash at the end brings out the outlines of the instruments, a matte clear coat evens out the surface and a spot of gloss clear imitates the glass of the dials.
The set is an accessory to a model, not an aircraft kit. The base model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
