A detail set of the Wright R-2600 Twin Cyclone engine in 1:48 scale, one piece in the package, for builders of American aircraft with a radial engine.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is an accessory for a build, not a model of an aircraft. According to the name there is one piece of the Wright R-2600 Twin Cyclone engine in 1:48 scale in the package. A radial engine is visible on a model through the opening in the cowling, and on machines with the engine section uncovered it becomes the main draw of the whole model. A replacement casting manages what an injection-molded part usually cannot: fine finning on the cylinders and legible routing of the accessories.
The Wright R-2600 Twin Cyclone was an American air-cooled radial engine with fourteen cylinders in two rows. It powered a range of well-known machines of the Second World War, among them the medium bomber B-25 Mitchell, the attack A-20 Havoc and carrier aircraft of the US Navy. It was one of the engines that carried the main weight of wartime production, and its shape appears under the cowlings of dozens of types. That is exactly why the casting suits modelers who build several different aircraft as well.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent and let them dry. Cut the casting blocks away with a fine saw and even the surfaces out by wet sanding with your airways protected. Resin parts are glued with cyanoacrylate glue. Paint and weather the engine before you seat it in the cowling. A dark metallic base proves itself, then a dark wash into the spaces between the fins, and finally fine drybrushing with a lighter metallic shade, which draws out the edges of the fins. Tell the pushrods and the lines apart so that the engine does not come across as all of one piece.
