A plastic kit of the X-47B unmanned demonstrator in 1:48 scale from the Taiwanese maker Freedom Model Kits, this time in a limited edition devoted to the subject of refueling in flight. The elegant flying wing with its flowing curves is a striking and unmissable model of the modern era of unmanned flight.
The Northrop Grumman X-47B was an experimental unmanned combat aircraft developed for the US Navy in a program of carrier-based unmanned systems. It entered history in 2013 with the first autonomous landing of a jet unmanned aircraft on the deck of an aircraft carrier, and in 2015 with the first autonomous refueling in flight as well - and it is that stage that the name of the edition recalls. Two prototypes were built, which served as the basis for further development of carrier-based drones.
The smooth flowing shapes of a flying wing come out only with carefully sanded joints - count on filling and on checking the surface under a coat of primer. The gray scheme of the real aircraft is brought to life by fine panel shading and transitions between shades; gloss varnish belongs under the decals and a final satin coat will even the surface out.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
