A set of pre-painted photo-etched seat belts from the Czech manufacturer Eduard for a model of the Soviet Yakovlev Yak-1b fighter in 1:48 scale. It is an upgrade accessory, not a kit. The belts are in thin etched steel sheet (STEEL) with a color print that imitates the straps and fittings with no further painting needed.
The STEEL line replaces brass with steel sheet. Steel is springier and holds its shape better once bent, so the belts look naturally draped over the seat. The color print gives the pilot's straps a faithful look the moment they are glued in and clearly brings an otherwise empty cockpit to life. It is a quick and effective way of raising the realism of an interior.
The Yakovlev Yak-1 was one of the main Soviet fighters of the Second World War. The Yak-1b version brought an improved view thanks to a lowered rear fuselage spine and a cut-down canopy, revised armament and a number of detail improvements. The machine formed the basis of the whole successful Yak fighter line.
Separate the belts carefully from the fret, shape them to the seat and bond them with a small amount of super glue (cyanoacrylate). Steel will take gentle further shaping into natural folds. The print can be evened out with a light matte varnish.
This is a detail accessory to a plastic model, not a standalone kit. Neither glue nor the base model is included in the package.
