An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet Yakovlev Yak-9D fighter in 1:48 scale from Zvezda. It is a modern new mold with finely engraved surface detail. According to the manufacturer the box contains plastic parts, a clear canopy and decals for several marking options of Soviet machines. For modelers it is an attractive rendering of one of the most important Soviet fighters of the Second World War.
The Yak-9 was one of the main Soviet fighters of the Second World War, built in large numbers and in many variants. The Yak-9D version was a fighter with extended range thanks to a larger fuel load, which suited it to escort duties and to longer combat missions. The design combined mixed wood and metal construction with good handling. The Yak-9 played a significant part in the closing phases of the war on the Eastern Front.
Use thin cement for plastic and work in subassemblies. Finish and paint the cockpit before the fuselage is closed up. Apply a primer before painting and spray the paints with an airbrush. With Soviet schemes discreet wear and emphasized panel lines work well; mask the canopy with cut tape. Pay attention to a clean fit of the wing and the fuselage, so that the fine surface detail of the new mold comes out.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
