An injection-molded plastic model of the Soviet fighter Yakovlev Yak-9T in 1:48 scale from Zvezda. It is a modern tooling with fine engraved surface detail and a well worked-out cockpit. The box contains plastic parts, clear glazing, decals and building instructions; the T version is distinguished by its heavy cannon armament.
The Yak-9 was one of the most widespread Soviet fighters of the Second World War. The Yak-9T version was the anti-tank and anti-ship strike variant armed with a massive 37 mm cannon firing through the propeller hub; a single hit could destroy a lightly armored target or bring down an enemy aircraft. The aircraft was powered by a V12 engine and excelled in agility and maneuverability. It went into series production in 1943 and was used on the Eastern Front.
Glue the plastic parts with thin modeling cement for plastic and fill and sand the joints where needed. Mask the canopy glazing before spraying. Apply a primer before painting and lay the paints on with an airbrush in thin coats; Soviet schemes benefit from fine shading of the panels, emphasis of the lines with a wash and a suggestion of the wear of a front-line machine with chipping.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
