A set from the SPACE decal range of the Czech manufacturer Eduard. It is neither a kit nor a finished model, but an accessory for raising the level of an interior. The decals of the SPACE range are printed in three dimensions, so besides the printing they carry relief as well: the instrument panel and the side consoles thereby gain a three-dimensional look without laborious painting and dry-brushed outlining. Check the contents of the package and the extent of the set on the box.
The Yakovlev Yak-9T was the antitank and ground-attack variant of the widespread Soviet fighter of the Second World War. Its identifying mark is a large-caliber cannon housed on the axis of the engine and firing through the hollow propeller shaft. Because of the length of the weapon and the way it was mounted, the pilot's cockpit had to be moved back, which changed the proportions of the forward fuselage as well as the view out of the cockpit. One well-aimed burst was meant to be enough for a hard hit on an enemy aircraft, but the cannon made high demands on the pilot's accuracy. For a modeler the Yak-9T is interesting precisely for the way a design compromise shows in the silhouette of the machine.
Three-dimensional decals are applied differently from ordinary waterslide decals, because they are noticeably thicker. First free the cockpit parts of dust and grease and prepare a smooth surface. Moisten only the backing paper with a sponge and a drop of dish soap, lift the part off with tweezers and seat it exactly on a drop of PVA glue (white glue), because once dry it can no longer be moved. Do not use a decal softener or a setting solution, as they would attack the printed resin and ruin the part. Unify the interior with a matte varnish at the end so that the sheen of the film disappears.
