This model from the Japanese maker Fujimi captures the heavy cruiser Tone as the name of the item defines her: her state in 1944 and a reference to the engagement in Leyte Gulf. The 1:700 scale is the most widespread for surface ships, so the cruiser can be built beside other units and a whole force created on one shelf.
The Tone was the lead ship of the class of the same name and among Japanese cruisers you recognize her at a glance. All her main guns were concentrated in the forward part of the hull, while the stern stayed free for catapults and the launching of reconnaissance floatplanes. That made her the eye of the carrier force, and she escorted it in most of the large operations in the Pacific.
The proven procedure is to start with the hull and the decks and only then to fit the superstructures, the masts and the fine parts. Choose the glue according to the material of the individual parts. The sides and the decks come out well when, after the base coat, you bring them to life with fine toning and by picking out the engraved lines. Railings and other small items are fitted right at the end, so that they do not suffer during handling.
The model is supplied unassembled and without a finish. Paints, glue and other accessories are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
