A plastic model of the Japanese heavy cruiser Tone in 1:700 scale in the version with the whole hull, supplemented with etched metal parts. The finished model measures about twenty-nine centimeters in length.

The Tone was the first ship of the class of the same name of Japanese heavy cruisers, and at first sight she could be confused with few other ships. All four twin turrets of 20.3 cm caliber were concentrated ahead of the superstructure, while the whole stern was left clear for floatplanes, catapults and handling equipment. The ship was therefore built above all for reconnaissance at long range and for escorting carrier forces, to which she herself supplied the eyes. It is precisely this asymmetrical silhouette that makes her a rewarding subject for a display case.
According to the name it is the version with the whole hull, so the model comes about including the underwater part and not only down to the waterline. Etched metal parts are included for details that cannot be produced in plastic. The subject measured around two hundred meters, so the finished model comes out at roughly twenty-nine centimeters in length. The list of parts and the range of color forms are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Start by joining the halves of the hull and sand the seam in the side, otherwise it will show on the finished ship. Only then fit the deck, the superstructure, the turrets, the catapults and the boats. Separate the etched parts with a sharp blade on a hard board, bend them over a straight edge and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue; glue for polystyrene will not hold them. Wash and degrease the metal before painting. Mark the dividing line at the waterline with masking tape before spraying.
For collectors of Japanese cruisers and for modelers who feel up to photo-etch. The kit is supplied unassembled; paints, glue and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
