A model of the Polish destroyer ORP Grom in her 1940 state. 1:400 is a rewarding scale for ships: the hull is just under thirty centimeters on the shelf, so the model fits into a display case and there is still enough room for the superstructures, the gun turrets and the armament.
When she was completed, the Grom was one of the most heavily armed destroyers of her size. The Polish Navy had her built in a British shipyard in the second half of the 1930s and relied on speed and on heavy gun and torpedo armament. Shortly before the war broke out she sailed with other units to Britain and continued the fight from there. In the spring of 1940 her service ended off the Norwegian coast under attack from the air.
Paint the hull before you seat the superstructures on it, otherwise you will reach neither the lower edges with a brush nor with a nozzle. Leave the small parts on their carrier as long as possible and cut them off only just before fitting. The mast and the rigging make the impression of the whole model; use the thinnest thread you can get for the runs and tension them only once the paint has dried. Lay the spray on in thin coats, as in this scale a heavy coat floods the fine engraving of the deck. Prepare the water surface on the base beforehand; finishing it under a completed model is extra work.
The package contains the model kit. Paints, glue and tools are not included, unless stated otherwise.
