A richly filled sheet of markings for the Fieseler Fi 156 Storch in 1:48 scale. Seven machines, from the Spanish Civil War through the mountain raid at Gran Sasso to the French licensed version in Spanish colors.
Responsibility details are not available.
On 12 September 1943 a group of gliders landed on the slope below the Campo Imperatore hotel, and an hour later Benito Mussolini flew out from there. He was taken away by the only machine able to take off from such a short, sloping surface with three men on board, the Fieseler Fi 156C. This very aircraft is one of the seven schemes the sheet offers.
The selection opens with an aircraft from the Greek and Balkan campaign of April 1941 and a machine in Swiss colors from June 1943. Then comes an example from the Condor Legion in Spain in 1938, an aircraft of 1.(F)/120 from the Eastern Front around 1943 and a machine of 2./NAGr.2 from Poland in the summer of 1944. The seventh item is a Morane-Saulnier MS.500 Criquet, the French-built equivalent, in the service of the Spanish Air Force.
Production of the type did not stop after the liberation of France. The Morane-Saulnier company carried it on under its own designation, and the machines then served for a number of years in Africa, in Indochina and in Spain. For a modeler that means one and the same airframe shape can be built in entirely different colors and with different markings without having to change the kit.
The cabin glazing takes up a large area on this type, so the fuselage markings often come right up to its frame. It pays to seat them before the masking tapes are taken off the windows.
The sheet contains no plastic or photo-etched parts.
