Aichi D3A1 Val – stencils 1:48 is a sheet of wet decals from Art Scale with the small service markings and lettering for a model of the Japanese carrier-borne dive bomber.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a sheet of classic wet decals aimed exclusively at the small technical stencils, service lettering and warning markings. It is not a model and not paints – the set serves to finish the surface of a model of the Japanese Aichi D3A1 dive bomber in 1:48 scale and make it credible. The number of stencils on the sheet is usually enough for more than one model.
The Aichi D3A1, known to the Allies under the code name Val, was a single-engine carrier-borne dive bomber of the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service with fixed landing gear in characteristic aerodynamic fairings. It was in action from the strike on Pearl Harbor onwards and in the first years of the war in the Pacific it was among the most successful machines of its kind against ship targets.
Apply the decals onto a gloss, smoothly sprayed base, which prevents air being trapped under the film and the resulting dulling. Cut the individual motif out, dip it in lukewarm water for a few seconds, slide it off the backing into place and squeeze the excess water out gently. Setting and softening solutions improve the way it seats and adheres into the engraved lines. Once dry, overcoat with clear varnish.
The paints, the varnish and the model are not included in the package.
