A 1:48 decal sheet for the captured Messerschmitt Bf 109 E-4/B with the works number 4101. Markings for modelers who want to build an Emil in a guise it never wore with its original unit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This sheet from the Exotic Decals brand is meant for modelers who want to build an Emil as it looked once it had ended up on the other side of the front. The decals are applied to a finished kit in 1:48 scale; the aircraft itself and its parts are not included in the package.
The Bf 109 E-4/B was one of the fighter-bomber adaptations of the Emil series. Compared with the ordinary E-4 it differed in a pylon under the fuselage on which a bomb could be hung, and it was used for fast strikes from low altitude. Machines that fell into enemy hands after a failure or damage went through measurement and test flights, and it was on them that color schemes arose which never flew on production aircraft.
The best base is a smooth gloss varnish, because matte surfaces create a silvery veil around the motifs. Cut the decals out one at a time close to the printing, soak them in warm water for only a few seconds and slide them onto the model off the paper rather than pulling them off. Once dry, a softener will help the carrier film press into the engraved lines and rivets, and finally secure the whole with a coat of varnish.
