1:48 Westland Lysander Mk.I/Mk.III Markings airbrush mask /AFX

Westland Lysander Mk.I/Mk.III – 1:48 markings mask (MH models)

This is a self-adhesive masking set from the brand MH models intended for spraying the national insignia and markings of the Westland Lysander in 1:48 scale. It is neither a model nor a decal: it is a set of precisely die-cut masks that let the roundels and the other insignia be sprayed with an airbrush straight onto the surface of the model.

The real subject

The Westland Lysander was a British liaison and observation aircraft with a high-mounted wing and excellent takeoff and landing qualities. During the Second World War it became famous for dropping and picking up agents from short field strips. Sprayed insignia look more convincing than a decal, because they follow the texture and the matte finish of the surrounding paint.

Use

• Stick the mask onto a dry base coat, press the edges down and spray the color of the insignia.
• Apply the paint in thin coats so that it does not creep under the edge of the mask.
• Lift the mask while the paint is still fresh, for a crisp edge.
• Suitable for models of the British Lysander liaison aircraft.

Who it is for

• Modelers who prefer sprayed insignia to decals.
• Builders who are bothered by the gloss or the edge of a decal (silvering).
• More advanced modelers working with an airbrush.

The mask is an aid for painting; on its own it holds neither paints nor a model.
