The A/S32-31A is an aircraft tractor of the US Navy. Its task is to move and tow machines over the deck of a ship and over the surfaces of land bases, joined to an aircraft with a tow bar at the nose gear. The aircraft is thus shifted without its own engines having to run, and the crew gets by with little room.
The 1:144 scale suits where the whole is the point: a deck full of machines, a marshaling area or a view of a base from above. A tractor in such a scene sets the scale and reveals that work is going on over the area. Because in this scale several pieces of equipment are usually built side by side, it pays off to get several of them and to lay them out in groups.
In a small scale the work is with tiny parts, so cut them off with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder only lightly, so that the details are not rubbed away. Wash and degrease the surface before painting. Apply the paint in thin layers so that it does not flood the edges, and check a suitable glue and the procedure in the manufacturer's instructions.
Suggest the wear only by a hint. In this scale a darker shade in the gaps and a lighter tone on the upper surfaces are enough to keep the model from staying flat.
