About product

Lavochkin La-7 (S-97) In Czechoslovak Service - a kit in 1:144

An injection-molded plastic kit of the Lavochkin La-7 fighter in the small scale of 1:144 from the Czech maker Mark I. The boxing focuses on machines operated by the Czechoslovak Air Force, where the aircraft carried the domestic designation S-97. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.

The real subject

The La-7 was a Soviet single-engine fighter from the last phase of the Second World War, developed out of the La-5FN. It was powered by the air-cooled Shvetsov ASh-82FN radial engine, the fuselage structure combined wood with metal and the armament was made up of cannon in the forward section. Against its predecessor the aircraft received an aerodynamically cleaned-up fuselage, revised radiators and a lightened structure, which showed in its agility and speed at low and medium altitudes. After 1945 machines of this type entered the inventory of the Czechoslovak Air Force and served there under the designation S-97.

Building and painting tips

The 1:144 scale means small parts and very tight tolerances - work with thin cement for plastic applied by capillary action and with tweezers, not with thick cement from a tube. Sand the seams carefully so as not to lose the fine engraving. It pays to mask the canopy with strips of mask or with a decal; brush painting shows at this scale. Before the decals, go over the area with a gloss varnish, otherwise silvering will appear under them, and once dry unify the surface with a matte varnish. Keep the weathering restrained: at 1:144 it is enough to suggest, not to draw.

Who the model is for

  • For collectors of Second World War aircraft at a small scale.
  • For anyone interested in equipment that served in the Czechoslovak Air Force.
  • For modelers who want to build a whole development line without demanding space in a display case.

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

It is the domestic designation under which the La-7 served in the postwar Czechoslovak Air Force. It is the same type, only with a different national designation.

The number is not stated here. Take it that this is a single boxing of the version in question.

The 1:144 scale means small parts and tight tolerances, so it suits rather a modeler who has already built something. Tweezers and thin cement are essential.

They are not. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted; paints, glue and accessories are not included in the package.
