A photo-etched set in 1:72 scale for the kit of the carrier-based airborne early warning aircraft Grumman E-2C in the later form designated E-2C plus.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Hawkeye is a carrier-based airborne early warning aircraft that carries a rotodome above the fuselage and with it watches the airspace far ahead of a naval formation. The designation with a plus is used on the E-2C for a later form of the aircraft; how it differs from the earlier machines is specified in the manufacturer's instructions. Its outward appearance stays characteristic, with a high-set wing, multiple tail surfaces and sturdy landing gear for deck landings.
Photo-etched metal parts for a kit of this type in 1:72 scale. Metal allows the elements to be rendered in a thickness that could not be reached on an injected part, and it also takes fine fretwork. The parts list and their placement on the model are in the manufacturer's instructions.
Cut the parts off the sheet with a sharp blade on a hard surface only at the moment you are about to glue them; until then they are safe on the sheet. Sand the remains of the tabs down. Make the bends over a photo-etch bending tool or over the smooth jaws of a pair of pliers in one movement, so the edge is not wavy. Glue with a tiny amount of cyanoacrylate glue applied to the plastic part. Before painting, wash the metal, degrease it and spray a coat of primer; only then does the shade itself belong on it. Read the instructions in advance, as some of the parts are fitted before the main assemblies of the model are glued together.
The set is for the modeler who wants sharp, thin detail even on a small model. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.
