This set from the Czech manufacturer Firma49 brings a scaled-down version of the ordinary hand tools that lay about in workshops, in yards and at field repair shops. The designation ver.B refers to the second variant of this subject, so you can vary the make-up of the tools in a scene without the objects repeating themselves.
An empty area around a model looks sterile. A few pieces of tooling propped against a wall, dropped on a workbench or lined up on the bed of a vehicle give a scene scale and suggest a story without your having to build a whole building. In 1:48 scale such objects are still easily read, and yet they do not overpower the main model.
First treat the pieces with a fine primer, otherwise the shade will not take evenly. The metal parts stand out if, after the base color, you go over them lightly with a graphite pencil or a dry brush with silver. Wooden handles look best after a thin brown clear coat and a gentle accenting of the edges. Finally a dark wash helps, running into the recesses and visually setting the individual pieces apart from one another. Add rust only where it would really arise.
The tools are supplied unpainted and without a base.
