About product

FuG 202 Lichtenstein for the Ju 88 (1:48)

This is a fine 3D-printed upgrade set, not an aircraft kit. It contains the antenna array of the FuG 202 Lichtenstein airborne radar, which is fitted to the nose of a model of the Ju 88 night fighter in 1:48 scale. Thanks to 3D printing, the thin antennas are markedly more faithful and finer than injection-molded plastic parts.

The real subject

The FuG 202 Lichtenstein B/C was a German airborne radar used from 1942 on night fighters. Its characteristic antenna array on the nose made it possible to find enemy bombers in the dark. The Junkers Ju 88 in the night fighter role was one of the most numerous carriers of this radar.

Building and painting tips

Separate the antennas carefully from the print supports, as they are fragile. Clean any remains off them and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Before gluing and painting it is advisable to knock the surface back slightly and spray a base coat. When handling the thin parts, work with tweezers and protect them from bending.

Who the set is for

  • builders of German night fighters of the Second World War
  • modelers who want faithful fine antennas instead of coarser plastic ones
  • anyone interested in superdetailing in 1:48 scale

This is an accessory set, not a complete model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.

FAQ

A German airborne Lichtenstein radar of the Second World War, whose antenna array was mounted on the nose of night fighters.

They are 3D-printed parts, which allow very fine and faithful antennas.

Separate them carefully from the supports and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue); they are fragile, so work with tweezers.
