The 1:16 Wine bottles set from the Firma49 brand brings six different shapes of wine bottles, one piece of each. In 1:16, that is, in the scale of large figures and radio-controlled models, these are parts that are easy to take hold of and clearly legible in the finished scene. The manufacturer makes the smaller sizes of the same set separately, with four pieces of each shape.
The shape of a bottle was never accidental. The slim tall form goes with wine from the Rhine and Moselle valleys, the rounded one with vertical shoulders with Bordeaux, the softly rounded one with Burgundy and the bulbous one with bottles for sparkling wines, which had to withstand internal pressure. Six different shapes in one set therefore do not serve a merely decorative role, but make it possible to suggest the origin of the contents and with it the place where the scene is set. In scenes of cellars, taverns, field kitchens and looted houses, broken and whole bottles alike are among the most faithful small things that can be placed in a scene.
Bottle glass is imitated with a dark green or brown color with a high gloss, for which a gloss varnish over a matte base is suitable. Labels can be printed on thin paper and stuck on with diluted PVA glue. The neck with silver or copper foil looks more faithful than a bare part.
The set serves as an accessory to a scene; on its own it forms no building and no vehicle.
