A pair of sheets deals with the two most tedious places of the build: the framing of the canopy and the white wheel rims. The parts for the glazing are prepared for the inner and the outer side, so the frame looks correct even when seen into the cockpit. The set is cut for Tamiya kits and covers the F-14A and F-14D versions alike.
The Tomcat has sizeable one-piece glazing with a pronounced frame, which is hard to measure out by hand. The circular masks for the tires in turn save laborious covering of the rubber while spraying the rims. The result is cleaner than tracing with tape and above all repeatable when you build several machines of the same type. The circular cut additionally keeps the concentricity that nobody can cut freehand, so the white rim stays equally wide around the whole perimeter.
First rid the clear part of grease, seat the mask with dry tweezers and press it down with a soft stick. Go over the frame first with the interior shade and only then with the exterior finish; the transition will then not show through. With the wheels fit the circle onto the center of the rim and lay the paint from a greater distance, so that it does not get under the edge. After removal no sticky film remains on the clear part.
