Masks for the cabin frame, the wheel rims and the EOTS window of the F-35B Lightning II model in 1:48 scale are cut for the Tamiya kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set deals with the three places that take the most time on an F-35 model: the framing of the cockpit canopy from the inside and the outside, the wheel rims and the window of the electro-optical targeting system under the nose. The shapes are cut from a thin masking tape. It adapts to the curve of the canopy, after spraying it comes away without deposits and with gentle removal you will use it again.
In this scale the F-35B exists from several brands and the cabin frame differs between them so much that masks cannot be interchanged. This item is prepared for the Tamiya kit; for the Italeri molding the maker of the masks issues another set under its own number. The difference is in millimeters, but on a finished model it shows up as a crooked line of the frame.
Version B is the one that manages short takeoff and vertical landing. Behind the cabin it has a lift fan driven from the engine and at the rear a nozzle which swivels down. It is operated by the US Marine Corps and several other users, typically from the decks of ships on which a classic fighter would not be able to settle. The window of the targeting sensor under the nose has a shade of its own and is dealt with by a mask so that it does not merge with the fuselage. The surface of the aircraft additionally has a low reflectivity and matte finishes behave differently on it than a smooth gloss, which is allowed for in the painting from the primer on.
