Resin extended flaps for the Douglas DC-8-53 and the naval EC-24A in 1:144 scale change the outline of the wing of the four-engine jet aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
The resin castings capture the wing mechanization in the fully extended position, that is, as it looks on approach to landing. They can be used on the transport form of the machine and on the single converted example which served the US Navy. The difference against the closed wing from the kit is clearly visible even in this small scale.
The Douglas DC-8 belonged to the first generation of jet transport aircraft; in the form of the fifty series it received more powerful engines and longer range. A special chapter is the EC-24A machine: a single example that came about by converting the cargo version, studded with antennas and with a conspicuous ventral fairing. It flew as a simulator of enemy jamming for the training of ship crews and ended in 1998; to this day it stands on a storage apron in Arizona.
Extended flaps change the outline of the wing and its thickness, so first mark the boundaries of the section in pencil and lay the casting against it dry. The material sands well, but on thin edges it is brittle, so work with it calmly and without pressure. For fixing use super glue, ideally in gel form, which gives time to align the part.
The plastic parts of the aircraft are not supplied with the accessory.
