The eighth man of the column, French Commando Kieffer Marching No.8, is a resin figure in 1:48 scale intended to be painted.
Responsibility details are not available.
The eighth figure of the column walks with the head up and a hand resting on the sling, that is in the position photographs from the summer of 1944 capture most often. The resin print has held the small buttons, the pocket fastenings and even the texture of the knitted sweater under the blouse. It is supplied as one unworked piece.
The commitment of the French commandos was only half over when they left the Normandy line. In the autumn of 1944 their members took part in the landing on the island of Walcheren near Vlissingen in the Netherlands, where the point was to open the approach to the port of Antwerp. It was an operation in flooded country, with amphibious vehicles and an advance along the dikes, that is something quite different from fighting in the Normandy hedgerows. Thanks to it the port of Antwerp opened to supply shipping before the end of November.
So that a small figure does not look plastic, tell the surfaces apart by the degree of sheen. Wool and canvas stay completely matte, the leather of the webbing and the boots take on a satin cast, and only the metal of the buckles and the weapon may catch the light. The difference shows even on an area the size of a fingernail and does more for credibility than another shade of paint.
Paints, varnishes and glue are not enclosed.
