The loader of the crew of a Bofors gun on the cargo bed of a desert patrol vehicle, 1:35 scale. A resin figure capturing the man handing up the ammunition, the counterpart to the gunner figure from the same line.
Responsibility details are not available.
A weapon on the cargo bed of a vehicle was useless if only one man stood at it. The loader held the next round in his hands, watched the fire and had to keep his feet in a cargo bed that was being shaken about. It is precisely him that this figure captures, in motion, with the body leaning toward the breech of the weapon.
In a pair with the gunner a distinct action arises: the gaze of one goes to the target, the hands of the other to the breech. The diorama thereby gains a direction which a single lone figure will never create. Open crates, empty cartridge cases on the floor of the cargo bed and the tarpaulin pulled to the side suit it as additions. It is enough to lean the torso a few degrees and a calm figure turns into a man trying to keep his balance in a moving cargo bed.
The hands and the ammunition carried tend to be the thinnest part of the casting, so handle them carefully during the cleaning up already. Dry accentuating will lift the edges of the cloth out, while a thin glaze in the folds will add depth. For seating on the cargo bed it suits to sand the feet down level with the floor. Aim the gaze of the figure at the breech of the weapon, otherwise the scene falls apart into two unrelated figures. The package does not contain paints, a base or additional ammunition.
