Wooden deck covering for the steamship RMS Titanic in the 1:550 size. The engraved plastic areas are replaced by a real grain of wood fibers. Intended for the Hobby Boss 81305 kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The deck set is cut for a model of the famous steamship in 1:550 scale. The areas that are only suggested by engraving on the plastic molding are thus replaced by a real grain of wood. The promenades and the upper decks therefore look convincing at first sight once they are finished, and the model gains a warm color contrast against the dark hull. The target kit is the Hobby Boss 81305.
RMS Titanic was built by the Belfast shipyard Harland and Wolff. She set out on her first voyage from Southampton to New York in April 1912 and on the night of April 15, after a collision with an iceberg, she sank in the North Atlantic. More than fifteen hundred people died, and the disaster led to a tightening of the international rules for lifesaving equipment at sea. The ship measured over two hundred and sixty meters and was driven by two reciprocating engines supplemented by a steam turbine.
Finish and paint the hull first, and only then lay the wood. Seat the parts from the center toward the edges, so that the deviation does not accumulate. Remove the excess around the superstructures with a sharp scalpel, not by pulling, which could tear out the fibers. A clear matte varnish at the end protects the surface against soiling from fingers. Anyone who wants to achieve a weathered look can go over the area lightly with very fine abrasive paper after gluing.
