A miniature of an ammunition belt from the workshop of the 3DF brand, made by 3D printing. It replaces a coarsely shaped belt from a mold or rounds out a weapon for which a kit offers no ammunition at all. It comes into use on flexible machine guns, on gunner's stations and on open ammunition boxes in an interior.
This round became the standard armament of the Western armies in the mid-1950s and replaced older and longer rifle ammunition. It is used by the whole family of general-purpose machine guns, from the Belgian MAG through the American M60 to the later M240, and in belted form it appears in the door stations of helicopters and on the mounts of light vehicles. That is exactly why this miniature makes sense on postwar vehicles and not on machines from the Second World War.
Before painting, break the print supports off and level the places where they were with a fine file or an abrasive sponge; protect your airways when sanding resin. Wash the part in warm soapy water so that it is cleared of print resin residue, and let it dry. It is glued with super glue, and a drop is enough for the joint. The brass shade of the cases comes out when a thin dark wash is laid into the recesses between the individual rounds over a base metal color.
