A driver of a Long Range Desert Group patrol, the first series of figures. A resin part in 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin figure in 1:35 scale from the first series of figures devoted to the British desert reconnaissance unit. It represents a man at the controls of a patrol vehicle and, together with the co-driver and a seated crew member, will fill the whole cab.
The unit was formed in Egypt in 1940 at the prompting of Ralph Bagnold, who had explored the desert before the war on civilian expeditions. The first volunteers were provided by New Zealanders; later came Rhodesians and the British Guards regiments. The patrols moved hundreds of kilometers behind the enemy line, mapped the terrain, watched the traffic on the coast road and delivered raiding parties to their targets.
Seams left by the parting plane of the mold are easier to find if you first spray the part with a thin coat of gray primer. The appearance of the patrols was renowned for its unmilitary freedom: a scarf on the head, sandals and beards. That is precisely why it pays to give every item of clothing a different shade of beige and sand instead of bringing the whole figure out in one color.
The footwear and the calves deserve the most dust, because the crew often had to get out of the vehicle and push.
The delivery covers a single unpainted part without a vehicle and without paints.
